Unit 4 fields, further mechanics 1hour 45 minutes 75 marks (20%)
Unit 5 nuclear and thermal physics 1hour 45 minutes 75 marks (20%)
Unit 6 centre assessed unit (CAU) 50 marks (10%)
Course Description
The AS component of Advancing Physics is designed to attract students to Physics from various backgrounds, and to hold a student’s interest, encouraging continued subject development. Its focus is on how Physics is done today, by incorporating some of the most exciting developments that have taken place. In addition, it offers students the opportunity to develop their own interests further.
The A2 component deepens understanding of crucial ideas, preparing students for further technical and non-technical study.
Career Pathways
Physics is a useful qualification and is relevant to many career pathways.
Good subject combinations are Mathematics, Computing, Chemistry, Electronics, Economics, Biology and Psychology.
