Course Description
This course is suitable for anyone who wants to study Art as part of their A Level curriculum and it will also benefit anyone who needs to produce a successful portfolio of work in order to continue with Art as a career after the Sixth Form.
During the course you will cover as many aspects of the practical arts as possible, within the expertise of the staff and will use a range of media which will produce
a variety of design and fine art outcomes.
Critical and historical studies form an integral part of the course, encouraging structured discussion, critical appraisal and analysis.
Why Art and Design?
You may wish to study a contrasting subject to your other, more theoretical and traditional based courses.
You may want to develop your understanding and appreciation of Art as well as developing practical skills for a career in the visual world.
You may want to pursue an art foundation course which will lead onto a degree.
Expectations
You will have to have a passion for the subject and all things visual.
You will need to be creative, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
You should enjoy researching about artists, visiting galleries, exhibitions and following the latest trends in Art and Design.
You will need to develop sketchbooks and portfolios of work over the course that demonstrates your skills.
