Course Description
This exciting course offers you the opportunity to study the breadth of the Graphics field, from creative and abstract Graphics to the more technical and formal graphical presentations. You will develop an understanding of the art of graphical communication through the manipulation of text and image using colour, line, texture, pattern, shape, space and form. This will allow you access to a wide variety of media as well as ICT, including the Graphics software Photoshop and image manipulation techniques. Although critical and historical studies form the basis for all the units, it is the main focus for module 3. This course will provides you with a broad range of skills and a very exciting portfolio of work.
Why Graphics?
You may wish to study a contrasting subject to your other courses; you may need an understanding of visual communication skills as a complement to, for example, IT or Media; you may require a course which gives you the opportunity to develop your understanding and appreciation of Graphics as well as the opportunity to develop practical skills.
Expectations
You will need to enjoy communicating visually and be interested in designing and working to a brief. You will need to be creative, self-motivated and enthusiastic. You should enjoy researching about designers and artists, visiting galleries and following the latest trends in design. You will need to develop sketchbooks and portfolios of work over the course that demonstrates your skills.
