Course Description

The AS area of study includes:
The structure and working of the English Legal System.
Police powers of arrest and detention.
The Courts and Judiciary.
The Legal Profession.
Sentencing.
The development of English Law.

The A2 area of study includes:
An in-depth analysis of criminal law.
Offences against the person, including actual and grievous
bodily harm, murder and manslaughter.
Offences against property: theft, burglary, deception.

Visits to local Courts and lectures on aspects of the course will be arranged.

Skills Required

The AS and A2 syllabus develops a range of skills including training the memory, research, analysis and the ability to construct arguments.
