Skills Required
Good algebraic skills, especially the manipulation of formulas, an analytical mind and good communication skills
Summary of Contents
S1 Models in probability, representing data, correlation and regression, discrete random variables and the normal distribution.
Cl Manipulation of surds and indices, quadratic equations, sketching graphs, coordinate geometry, series and sequences, differentiation and integration.
C2 Polynomials, trigonometry and graphing of trigonometry functions, logarithms, the binomial expansion, series, differentiation and integration.
M1 Vectors, kinematics, Newton's Laws of Motion, resolving forces and moments.
C3 Algebraic fractions, exponential functions, numerical methods, transformation of graphs, further trigonometry and differentiation.
C4 Partial fractions coordinate geometry, binomial expansion, differentiation, integration and vectors.
Calculators
Calculators are not allowed for Core 1. For all other modules, a scientific calculator is essential. The department will advise on specific calculators that are not permitted.
