The course involves the study of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Earth Sciences and Astronomy.

Why is it useful?
• Science is an essential subject, not only in its own right, but also
in enabling you to acquire necessary skills to use in other subjects.
Science will be useful for English, Mathematics and Technology
 to name but a few.
• Each year many pupils go on to study A/S and A2 Level Chemistry, Physics or Biology, or their science skills can be used in Vocational courses.

What does it involve?
It is a modular course leading to 2 GCSEs: Science and Additional Science. You will all receive eight lessons a week taught by two teachers. There will be a series of Module tests, which form part of the GCSE final grade. The tests are multiple-choice and can be taken at either Higher or Foundation tiers.

You will be provided with information sheets, data analysis exercises, syllabi and questions for all units. There will be twice the amount of homework set for a single subject, because you will be working towards two GCSEs. It is essential that you keep up with the work, consult your teachers and revise thoroughly for the unit tests.

What about coursework?
Coursework is not expected to be as time consuming as it has been in the past. Your coursework will be completed in class and marked by your teachers.

Studying this subject could lead to...
• the study of Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics at A/S and A2 Level in the Sixth Form.
You must have Mathematics GCSE at Grade B or above to study Physics at this level.
• a career in Medicine, Engineering, Dentistry, Ecology, Teaching, Pharmacy, Astrophysics,
• Design, Manufacturing, Forensics, Hairdressing and work as a Beautician.
