Course Description
This exciting course offers you the opportunity to study the breadth of the Textile field, from creative and abstract Textiles to fashion and household textile design. You will develop an understanding of colour, line, texture, pattern, shape, space and form as well as repeat pattern, printing techniques, embroidery, a wide variety of sewing skills as well as fashion and textile designing, you will have access to a wide variety of media. Although critical and historical studies form the basis for all the units, it is the main focus for module 3. This course provides you with a broad range of skills and a very exciting portfolio of work.
Why Textiles?
You may wish to study a contrasting subject to your other more theoretical and traditional based courses.
You may want to develop your understanding and appreciation of textiles as well as developing your practical skills leading onto a career in fashion, textiles or an art foundation course.
Expectations
You will need to have a love of fabrics, textures and colours and be interested in fashion and textile design.
You will need to be creative, self-motivated and enthusiastic.
You should enjoy researching about designers, visiting galleries, exhibitions and following the latest trends in fashion and design.
You will need to develop sketchbooks, create samples and produce a portfolio of work over the course that demonstrates your skills.
